Pangarau - Time Conversion #1.75hours

Work completed by Cruz and Devontae

Converting the time 1.75 hours into minutes.

1.0hours = 60mins
0.75 = 3/4 = on a clock, 3/4 of 60mins = 45mins

Therefore, they broke the number 45 into 40 and 5, for simpler addition
They were able to see that 60+40 = _____ was similar to 6+4 = 10
So 60+40 must have made 100
Then they remembered the leftover 5mins, 100+5 = 105

In conclusion, 1.75hours is the same as 105mins

Manu tuhituhi - Identification and usage

Work completed by Cruz

Kia ora koutou katoa.
Im Room 22 we are using a new strategy to learn more vocabulary and ways in which to use them.
We begin a week with an amount, usually 6-10.
We use the object as a stimulus and find the name of that object in both English and Māori
Then we are told to create English and Māori sentences with those words.

Kia ora, Ko toka tōku ingoa, he kaitoa ahau.
Hello, my name is Rock and i am a gladiator.

Kei ahau tētahi tarakona, Ko pūkenga tōna ingoa.
I have a pet dragon and his name is Philosopher.

I am flying on my dragon to fight with the other gladiators in the arena.

I stabbed the gladiators and then they would die!!

Kei te haere mai a Ty te raiona nui, kei te whawhai ia i taku tarakona Pūkenga.
Ty the giant lion came to fight with my dragon Philosopher.

I toa taku tarakona i te whawhai.
My dragon won the fight.

Kei te kimi maua ko taku tarakona i ngā iwi kaitoa kē.
Me and my dragon went in search to find other gladiators.

Kei te rere maua ko taku tarakona i te rangi, ka rere kōkiri i roto i te moana.
My dragon and i flew into the sky and then we dove down into the sea.

I went to the God of the seas to fight him.

After everything we had been through, my teacher came and told me to kill my own dragon.

Kei te whawhai taku tarakona, aa ka wero atu ahau i taku tarakona.
I faught my dragon and eventually, i had to kill him.

Aa kua mate toku kaiako.
I was extremely angry with my teacher. So i ran at him and jumped, i stabbed him right in the head and that is what killed him.

My way my country - The investigation - A view into the new

Our new idea became an investigation.
This was a follow-on from our investigation of an Olympic country.
We begin with the idea that, "we can create a country" based on the prior information/knowledge we had collected.

The process is simple: Imagine it, rationalize it, then make it real.

Our investigation includes many aspects including;
- The name of our new country, a short history about that country, a native population and language(s) spoken aswell as a belief system or social structure.
- The students place in the country and how they got to that position.
- Naming the capital city of their country and how it got its name.
- Construct an anthem for their country
- 5 x facts about their country
- 10 laws of their country
- Create a legend/myth about their country, and why this is significant, also to include how it has shaped their society.

Last but not least, to create a symbolic flag - representative of their country as a whole.

My country Brazil - Cruz

Kia ora, this investigation was about me finding a country to investigate and telling everyone a few things about that country and their involvement with the Olympics.
I began by choosing a country, I decided on Brazil.
We needed to find and write five facts  about the country we had chosen.
I found out what medals Brazil had won previously and in what sports the medals were won in.
From there we looked into their current involvement. i.e what sports they are competing in within the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The forth aspect to this investigation was writing out the National Anthem of my chosen country. I chose to write it in Brazilian.
The final element to this investigation was having an accurate representation of their nations flag.
I then decided to write about what the Olympic rings meant and show that representation above my flag.

My country My investigation - Jahvarn

Kia ora, this investigation was about me finding a country to investigate and telling everyone a few things about that country and their involvement with the Olympics.
I began by choosing a country, in the end i decided on Russia.
I found and wrote five facts that talked about the country and the people that inhabit that country.
I went on to find out what medals they had won previously and in what sports the medals were won in.
From there i looked into their current involvement. i.e what sports they are competing in within the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The forth aspect to this investigation was writing out the National Anthem of my chosen country. I chose to write it in Russian which was really cool but hard at the same time.
The final element to this investigation was having an accurate representation of their nations flag.
